Getting started
Find a camera, check whether a profile describes the camera system or sensor alone, then review the source and reuse terms before downloading.
1. Find a camera or sensor
Browse the camera catalog by name or manufacturer. A camera group can contain multiple source records; profiles from different sources remain separate. Sensor reference pages describe sensors, not a complete camera and optical system.
2. Read the profile
- Measured means a primary measurement is reported.
- Estimated means the response is derived or modelled.
- Mirror means a copy of another source's measurement.
- Unknown means the source category is not documented.
These labels do not establish quality or suitability. Check the response scope, optical configuration, wavelength coverage, and normalization. A profile may describe a camera body and its optical chain; sensor quantum efficiency (QE) alone does not include those components. Documented gaps remain gaps, and profiles are not averaged or resampled to look alike.
Profiles may contain RGB channels or one monochrome response. Charts show the published samples and coverage; unknown normalization is not inferred.
3. Check source and reuse terms
Follow the profile's citation and any named upstream license. A named license describes the source's terms; Camera Spectra does not add a grant of rights. When license or permission is marked unknown, no reuse permission is documented. Contact the project only through the contact option shown on the record, if present.
4. Choose a data file
Native CSV contains the published wavelength and response samples; provenance JSON carries profile and source metadata. Both are available for spectral records. A PixInsight XSPD file may also be offered for supported RGB or monochrome profiles. Its sidecar records coverage and metadata; partial coverage and gaps still matter. XSPD file ingestion and value round-trip were checked with PixInsight 1.9.4, but this does not establish SPCC or photometric accuracy. See the PixInsight guide.
Siril sensor files are available only for compatible sensor-only records. A camera-system response with unknown scope or physical units cannot be treated as sensor QE. See the Siril guide for the supported cases and limits.
If your camera is absent, prepare a missing-camera request draft.
